The Contemporary Ceramic Collective will be joining with the B.C. Potters Guild! We will still be our own entity and juried group, however we will be their partner and our members will now also have to be members of the B.C.P.G. To allow the partnership to work, I (Kathleen McGiveron, Founder) have joined the board of members of the B.C. Potters Guild.
We are still working out details of how this will exist and these details should be resolved this month. Things that will be added to our benefits will be that our newsletter will shift... instead of running our own monthly newsletter, we will instead host a collumn in the B.C.P.G. newsletter. As well, we are hoping to have shows at the Gallery of B.C. Ceramics and host critiques, demonstrations, workshops and small artist talks of our members and other artists of the B.C.P.G. Instead of having no home, we now are included in a home on Granville Island, which is a bonus. I am hoping this partnership will inspire more artists to want to professionally develop with us, and will create a stronger community of artists in Vancouver, will allow more collaborations, and even allow the potential for mentorships.
Soon I will be hosting an information session, most likely at the Gallery of B.C. Ceramics, so if you want to meet up in person that would be the time to do it! Now that this partnership is happening and it is far enough along in the talks that I can announce it, I can also resume the Call for Membership. Please note that in the future, when everything is official, you will also have to be a B.C. Potters Guild member and member rates vary if you are a student/artist/etc but are max $50 I believe, per year, and you also gain their member benefits in addition to ours. You will still need to be juried into the C.C.C. however.
So if you are an artist who works with clay in your practice and are looking to connect with other artists working with clay, discuss the business side of art, and professionally develop, then please check out our submissions page to see how to join the C.C.C.!
And if you are still wanting to hear me talk about it in person, please check back again with details announcing the information session.
Regards,
Kathleen McGiveron
